DHI Technique

What is DHI technique?

DHI (direct hair implantation) was discovered in 1970 and is now one of the most advanced hair transplantation methods available. Because the graft collection stage is the same, it is known as one of the FUE variations. Hair follicle transplantation, on the other hand, is done differently.

once the operation is completed hair regrowth is immediate .

patients will be able to shave only two weeks after the operation.

The pencil-shaped Choi Implanter used to plant hair follicles is another difference from other planting methods. As a result, it's also called the Pen technique. It is one of the most popular hair transplantation methods because it offers numerous benefits, including the ability to transplant unshaved hair in the first place.

What is DHI hair transplantation, exactly? Grafts are collected from the donor area and placed in the targeted area using pens designed specifically for the procedure. The hair transplant process is completed faster than other methods because the pen-shaped medical tool developed specifically for the DHI hair transplant method performs grooving and root placement simultaneously.

Patients with a hair density in their donor area of less than 40 follicles per square centimeter are considered poor candidates for hair transplantation. For such patients, the DHI technique is an excellent choice.

What are the DHI Technique's Stages?

First, a local anesthetic is applied to the donor area, which will be used to harvest healthy hair follicles. A Choi pen is used to collect healthy hair follicles after anesthesia. With a pencil, the collected hair follicles are placed one by one in the target area at 40-45 degree angles.

The Choi pen that was used in this hair transplant procedure is extremely thin and sharp. Hair follicles can thus be easily placed. When the special area behind the pen is pressed, the pen places the hair follicle on the scalp after dipping into the targeted area at an angle of 40-45 degrees.

The DHI method has the advantage of allowing for more frequent planting and does not harm healthy tissues.

One of the advantages of this method is that the roots taken from the donor area can be implanted right away. This improves the chances of the planted roots surviving and remaining healthy.

It takes an average of 6 to 8 hours to complete. Control is done on the first day after the procedure, just like with other methods. The washing process starts on the second day and lasts for eight days

What are the characteristics of the DHI pens (implanter pens)?

Choi pens, which are hollow and have a mechanism, are used for DHI hair transplantation. First, the spring mechanism is tensioned. When pressed, it pushes the tip into the skin, piercing it and leaving the graft inside. Although these pens were initially designed for fine hair, they were later adapted for thick hair.

Things to Think About Before a DHI Hair Transplant

Things to think about before the procedure are crucial in order to increase the chances of a successful hair transplant while minimizing the risks involved. As a result, the doctor who will perform the operation will explain everything to the patient in detail

Before undergoing the DHI method of hair transplantation, you must refrain from smoking and consuming alcoholic beverages, as with any other procedure. If you're taking a blood thinner or anticoagulant, talk to your doctor first; if necessary, stop taking it one week before the surgery. On the day of the DHI hair transplant operation, which is performed directly on the scalp, no chemicals (such as gel or hair spray) should be applied to the scalp. As a result, it is recommended that you wash your hair the day of the procedure.

What is the difference between DHI and FUE?

The FUE method is better for covering large areas. The DHI method yields a higher density. In other words, the FUE method produces better results for bald areas with severe hair loss that are difficult to cover.

The DHI method allows for shaved hair transplantation, which is a significant benefit for female patients. Only the donor area needs to be shaved. The FUE method, on the other hand, necessitates shaving the entire head prior to the procedure.

The DHI method takes much longer to master than other methods.

Because the DHI method uses a smaller incision area, there is less bleeding and thus a faster recovery time.
